Med Safety Project

Med Safety Project

The LiveWise Coalition in partnership with HyVee and Wellcare developed the Med Safety Project in 2017 to address overdoses of high risk medications by children between the ages of 7 and 18.

Med Safety Information

In Omaha, kids between the age of 7 and 18 are 4 times moe likely to overdose from non-controlled medication.  Non-controlled medications are your everyday medications that include: antidepressants, anti-psychotics, blood pressure medication, and other over the counter medication.  To reduce the risk to Omaha chidren, you are now able to take unused non-controlled medication to any local HyVee Pharmacy for safe disposal.  For those that are not able to take their medication to a local HyVee, the Drug Enforcement Administration hosts national prescription druge take back events 2 times per year.  You can find your nearest take back location by following the link under the "DEA Take Back" slider on this page.
